Landrat LWLWelcome to the website of the Western Mecklenburg Regional Planning Association
The Western Mecklenburg Regional Planning Association was formed in 1992 as a consortium of the three administrative districts of Ludwigslust, North-West Mecklenburg and Parchim and the two urban districts of the City of Schwerin – the state capital – and the Hanseatic City of Wismar.
The main function of the Association is to establish and carry forward the Regional Development Programme for the planning region of Western Mecklenburg, to work towards implementing the programme’s objectives, to assist with the formulation of the regional development and planning objectives in the Regional Development Programme for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and to coordinate all planning and other related measures of regional significance with the aim of ensuring controlled spatial development, strengthening the economic power of the region and thereby contributing to the preservation and/or creation of jobs.
The controlling bodies of the Association are the Association Meeting and the Board, whose work is supported by study groups set up on a permanent or temporary basis.
The day-to-day administration is the responsibility of the Western Mecklenburg Regional Development and Planning Office (lower-tier regional planning authority) in conjunction with the Regional Planning Department.
This website offers you the opportunity to find out more about the work of the Western Mecklenburg Regional Planning Association, its functions, projects and events. A selection of study papers and publications (such as programmes, plans and survey reports) is available to download. The “Regionalblick” newsletter, to which subscription is free of charge, reports regularly on the latest activities of the Association. Our colleagues in the Association’s office are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
We hope that you will enjoy reading these pages.
