Regional development
The legal basis is to be found in the Federal Regional Planning Act (Raumordnungsgesetz des Bundes, ROG) and the State Planning Act of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Landesplanungsgesetz Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, LPlG M-V).
In particular, regional development serves
- the approval of cross-district and multi-disciplinary planning applications
- the development, safeguarding and organisation of the region and
- the avoidance of conflicts of use (balancing of interests).
Regional development provides a binding framework for regionally significant measures and decisions. In terms of the so-called counter-flow principle, it considers the interests of the municipalities and sectoral planners in regional and local planning applications.
